This exhibition brings together a number of recent works and rituals, which creates a useful summary of his current artistic process. While language appears to be a significant part of the aesthetic and meaning of these works, the residua are often asemic (having no obvious semantic content). The long memorial scroll, 'we all speak at once', does however, have a clear and intentional purpose.
His work includes films, books, photographs, motion graphics, drawings, text, typographic objects, digital installations, custom software, sound and live performances. These creative acts are often informed/disrupted by the literary constraints of the Oulipo, the aleatory compositions of John Cage, and Umberto Eco's 'Open Work'.
Everything he does is literally 'an open situation, in movement. A work in progress' (Eco, 1960).
